An Idaho mom is behind bars after hospital staff discovered that she’d been starving her infant daughter for several months.
According to court documents, when authorities first found the 8-month-old girl on March 8, 2016, she weighed just 11 pounds—half of what the average baby her age should have weighed.

Child Protective Services reportedly investigated the home of 21-year-old Tiffany Knapp after receiving a tip that her child was “severely malnourished and underweight.”
A Caldwell Police report shows that the baby girl had been fed nothing but watered-down milk and Kool-Aid.
On top of this, the infant’s medical records have revealed that the baby was already three months premature and had troubles gaining weight since her birth.
Although Knapp had been prescribed medication to help her daughter gain weight, she never actually filled the prescription, according to the police report.
After interviewing Knapp, police learned that she knew of the prescription, but she said she “just spaced it.”
Unsurprisingly, doctors found that the baby girl’s lack of nutrition was what caused her low weight.
According to court documents, after taking the infant to the emergency room, police learned that she “would have likely died of malnutrition within days of being seen had she not received medical attention due to lack of nutrition and proper care.”
Over the next 20 days in foster care, the baby girl reportedly gained about four pounds and is finally on her way to recovery.
Knapp was arrested on Sunday on felony injury to a child charges.
