The streets of Virginia are a little safer after police arrested a sexual predator who went to meet up with a 5-year-old girl at a hotel – to have sex. Federal and local officials were on the scene in Henrico, Virginia, when Louis Ponterio, 54, arrived. He had made arrangements with a woman and her young daughter to meet at room 116 of an Econo Lodge.

The woman, a local prostitute, had had sex with Ponterio before and he asked if she had children. She cooperated with police and undercover officers met him at the hotel. Lt. Chris Eley, a Henrico Police spokesman, said the Henrico County Police Division’s Vice Unit had gotten information that Ponterio wanted to get a minor for the purpose of having a sexual relationship.
Ponterio communicated with a person he thought was going to allow him to meet a child on February 6, 2015. Ponterio was arrested the following day when he arrived at the hotel. According to the local news station WTVR 6, police also seized a teddy bear, marijuana, cough syrup, a sex toy and Hershey’s kisses.
At Ponterio’s home police found weapons, more marijuana, and some ‘digital’ evidence. Ponterio faced charges of electronic means for procuring minors, carrying a concealed weapon, the sale, and distribution of marijuana, object sexual penetration by force, prostitution, and forcible intercourse with a victim under 13.
In July 2016, Ponterio was sentenced to 27 years in prison, with 11 years suspended. So he will be locked away for 16 years.
