Animal rights activists in Kiev have managed to secretly film a horrifying display of animal cruelty. The two activists, Svetlana Lavrikova and Yulia Khomenko, heard from a neighbor of the man that he was torturing animals. They decided to get footage before going to the police. Their video shows 31 year old Dmitry Kiyanitsa tying his cat to a tree and using the poor creature as a punching bag.

Dmitry has been arrested by the authorities, and his poor cat has been taken into a vet. The cat is now being treated for a broken pelvis, fractured ribs, a brain blood clot, and internal injuries.
Dmitry not only beat his cat and hung her up by her neck, but he also drug the cat around his yard by a wire wrapped around her neck. At this point it’s amazing that the cat is alive at all, and if it weren’t for these two brave activists, she probably wouldn’t be. When the activists arrived in Dmitry’s yard with police officers, he threatened them with a knife.
The man says he was simply defending his property, but his actions show that he certainly has a violent streak. Dmitry is facing charges of animal cruelty, and if convicted, which he is likely to be, he will most certainly face jail time for his crimes. Jail or not, all we can hope for is that Dmitry is unable to come in contact with any other animals that he’ll have the chance to harm.
