There are plenty of things we’ve grown accustomed to having access to that would be considered a luxury in other parts of the world. According to Little Things, an organization known as Clean the World has come up with an innovative way to make one of these things accessible for those in need around the world.
The company has partnered up with a group known as the Global Soap Organization for a pretty brilliant recycling program. They collect used bars of soap from more than 4,000 hotels across the globe and make them into fresh bars of soap. The recycled bars are then distributed to people in needy countries. To date, they’ve delivered more than 25 million bars of soap to 99 different countries.

It’s a pretty ingenious idea to help those in need in countries that are often fighting losing battles with the spread of infectious diseases. As anyone who has ever stayed at a hotel knows, those little bars of soap are only used once are twice before being swapped out by the cleaning staff. This program serves the dual purpose of cutting down on waste, and providing a much needed benefit to those who otherwise may not have it.
