This is one of those ideas I have gone back and forth on whether I should post, because it’s so simple! I also worried that everyone already knows this “trick” to cleaning the microwave, since I’ve been doing it for several years already.
However, I didn’t discover it until I had been married for a few years, and had cleaned our microwave the “hard way” COUNTLESS times. So I’ve decided that I’m going to go ahead and share this tip with you today, because I would hate for anyone to suffer needlessly like I did because they hadn’t heard of this of this method! 😉 It really is a super easy and effective way to accomplish one of my LEAST favorite kitchen cleaning duties! Here’s how it’s done.

How To Clean Your Microwave
Step 1 – Prep

Pour one cup of white vinegar into a measuring cup or bowl, along with one cup of water.
Place the measuring cup or bowl into your microwave, then place a non-metallic object (such as a wooden spoon or stir stick) in the liquid. This step will ensure that your vinegar and water mixture doesn’t get superheated and accidentally explode. It may not be necessary, but it’s an easy precaution to take.
Step 2 – Microwave
Set your microwave for 5-10 minutes, depending on how powerful your microwave is, and turn it on.
When the time is up, CAREFULLY remove the cup from the microwave using an oven mitt.
