VETERAN'S DAY MEMORIAL FLAG RIPPED UP BY STUDENT - HIS REASON IS SICKENING

A disturbing story has emerged from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and it comes complete with video evidence. As shared by AWM, some students took it upon themselves to destroy American flags that were being displayed on campus in honor of Veteran’s Day.

Nicholas Strada is a student at the school, and he was pretty disturbed by what he saw. He decided to take some video of what was going on and upload it to social media.

“Today was a sad day. … Hundreds of flags were set up on the main green of Brown University by 2 VETERANS in honor of Veterans Day tomorrow, and when i got out of class, people had snapped them, ripped them, and threw them aside,” he shared.

The video has gained plenty of traction, and Strada received a number of posts of support. However, not all commenters understood why he was so taken aback.

“How can you support something as stupid as the American flag?” one user wrote.

For the university’s part, they released a statement condemning the actions of the flag-destroying students.

“We do not condone the activities that led to the flags being removed, and destruction of property is subject to disciplinary review,” a statement from the university read in part.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT, USE FROZEN LEMONS AND SAY GOODBYE TO DIABETES, TUMORS, OVERWEIGHT

Saying that lemons are a superfood is an understatement. Not only do they add abundant flavor to a variety of dishes, but they also boast a ton of health benefits.

The flavonoids within the juice are said to contain antioxidants, which is why lemons are useful in treating so many ailments and conditions.

Juicing your lemons only will not give you the maximum of their benefits, so we suggest that you freeze them. This article will help you understand why this method is so great for you.

Lemon peels contain tons of great stuff. Compounds found in lemon peels have the power to boost the immune system, normalize cholesterol levels and even prevent the development of cancer.

The peels of this citrus fruit provide strong anti-microbial effect, and are believed to prevent bacterial and fungal infections. This is of great importance in the removing process of internal parasites and worms.

As you well know, lemons are an essential part of every detox method, regardless of whether you are preparing lemonade, lemon water or lemon tea.

Health Benefits

Experts have associated the consumption of fresh fruits and veggies with a decreased risk of many lifestyle-related ailments. We give you the greatest powers of lemon:

  • Cancer prevention

  • Reduced risk of stroke

  • Excellent treatment of inflammation

  • Immunity boost

  • Prevention against asthma symptoms

  • Effective against dangerous bacteria

  • Prevention and treatment of depression and stress

  • Kidney and liver cleanse

Lemons and Cancer

Lemons are usually used for their vitamin C content that is mostly concentrated in their juice. But, the latest research has shown that lemon peels provide great nutrients as well.

Lemon peels have shown a huge potential in destroying and removing toxic waste from the body. This is the top reason why lemons are often used in the treatment of cancer patients.

There is a strong relation between lemons and cancer. Scientists spent decades in wondering and testing whether lemons can destroy abnormal cancer cells. And yes, many studies have confirmed this possibility.

After more than 20 laboratory tests since 1970, the extracts revealed that frozen lemons destroy the malignant cells in 12 cancers, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreas.

Some research studies have shown that frozen lemons can be more effective in destroying cancer when compared to chemotherapy.

Plus, they are a lot healthier and safer solution than chemo drugs. These studies also proved that lemon extract destroys cancer cells while leaving the healthy cells intact.

Get the Most from Your Lemons

Lemon peels have 5-10 more vitamins than their juice.

Dr. Marilyn Glenville, a nutritionist and expert on women’s health, explains that the combination of healthy peels can do good to the overall health. Here is what she said for BBC food:

“Most of the antioxidants included in fruit are included in the peel or the pith rather than in the pulp.”

Dr. Glenville also suggested:

“Smoothie is far better than a juice, since you can consume the whole fruit including the peel, and you will not throw away a single nutrient from the fruit.”

Citrus fruits are not quite favorite, mostly due to the bitter taste of their skin. But, we give you a recipe that will help you pull out the maximum of your lemons of course, without the bitter flavor.

Freeze your lemons

  • Wash and disinfect your lemons with organic apple cider vinegar or baking soda.

  • Rinse them well using water, and pat them dry using a towel.

  • Freeze your lemons overnight.

  • Once you notice they are completely frozen, grate the whole lemon. Yes, pulp, peel, seeds and all.

  • Transfer your grated lemons into ice cube trays, and store them in the freezer. In this way you can use them whenever you need a hint of citrus fruit.

Then, use it on whatever you are eating. Lemon peels will give a stronger taste to your dishes. Add some grated lemon peels to your salads, soups, yoghurt, pasta sauces or homemade ice cream.

Add a tablespoon of your grated lemons to your smoothie, juice or tea. They go well in baked goods as well. Trust your imagination, there are millions of ways to use grated lemons.

Additional Police Departments Put ‘In God We Trust’ On Patrol Cars

Police cars in Cleveland, Texas, are the latest to receive a decal that reads: “In God We Trust.”

The stickers were provided by Good Promotions, a local business, and approved by the police department, Your Houston News reported. Cleveland ISD Police Chief Rex Evans says the message is empowering and patriotic.

“Katy Fire Department just put the motto on all its fire trucks. A lot of agencies are doing this these days,” Evans said. “The (attorney general) ruled that the motto of our nation is ‘In God We Trust’, so how could it be wrong?”

Despite the questions the decals raise about the separation of church and state, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued a legal opinion that the motto doesn’t violate the First Amendment, according to Constitution Daily.

When Miranda Lambert saw the sign a veteran was holding up at her concert, she immediately broke down in tears:

“A court is likely to conclude that a law enforcement department’s display of the national motto, ‘In God We Trust,’ on its patrol vehicles is permissible under the Establishment Clause of the United States Constitution,” Paxton said in his ruling.

The Cleveland police force won’t be the last to embrace the decals. In the coming weeks, Liberty County Sheriff Bobby Rader will be putting the same slogan on his vehicles.

Nobody Would Hire This Woman With Down Syndrome So She Started Her Own Business

This heartwarming story about one woman’s perseverance in the face of discrimination is as amazing as her signature cookies!

When Collette couldn’t find a job, the intrepid young baker decided to go into business for herself. Now she’s her own boss, with plans to grow her company and become the boss of many, many more — all with disabilities of their own.

“Collette designed her own logo and applied for incorporation, ready to market and sell her cookie[s].” Her website tells the story of a young woman opening doors and making a name for herself among Boston locals, who have taken quite the liking to her baked goods.

She’s only growing from here!

Meet Collette Divitto.

Collette is a 26-year-old Clemson University grad from Boston, Massachusetts.

Collette has dealt with more than her fair share of barriers.

Because she has Down syndrome, her whole life she has been subjected to people’s attitudes and misinformation.

Trying to find a job has been a constant source of difficulty and disappointment, “Potential employers told her they liked her qualities, but said she ‘wasn’t the right fit.’”

“She’s never accepted her disability,” her mom, Rosemary Alfredo, said.

Why would she? She wasn’t going to let that discourage her.

If no one was going to give her a job then Collette would make her own.

“It’s very upsetting to me,” Collette told WBZ News. “It’s very hard to find a paying job for people like me who have special needs.”

She’s always been a phenomenal cook.

Collette perfected her recipes years ago, but one in particular, chocolate chip cookies dipped in cinnamon, has segued into something more for her. Collette’s mom had been saying so for years, “We kept telling her, ‘This is a really good cookie. You could sell this!’”

Now that’s exactly what she’s doing.

She bakes every batch out of her Boston apartment.

And started the business Collettey’s Cookies, where the apostrophe is stylistically replaced with a great big heart that mirrors Collette’s own.

“She’s kind of stepped into this role of trying to inspire and motivate other people,” Rosemary said.

“I’m incredibly proud,” Rosemary said of her daughter. “If there’s one thing or gift you can give any child, it’s that kind of strength. Because when doors have closed for her, she’s found a way around them or she’s found another door to open that might be an even greater path for her.”

She’s got a big dream — bigger than just her — she’s going to help people who, like her, had trouble finding jobs because of their disabilities.

According to her website, “Collette’s latest goal is to land an account in a large market and hire other people with a disability, understanding that 76% are unemployed and so want desperately to have a job, earn money, and be a worthy part of a team. Collette’s long term dream is to supply her cookie to a store chain, open a baking location in every state, and hire thousands of people with a disability across the country.”

“That’s my dream,” Collette said. “I want to help more people with disabilities. It would be a great feeling to hire them.”

A very admiral dream, indeed.

And it’s already coming true.

Collette has her first client: The Golden Goose Market nearby is selling Collette’s cookies on its shelves.

The owner, Stephen DeAngelis, has said, “You know we just kind of fell in love with her. We get great feedback. First of all, we have to chase the employees away because they want to eat them!”

She’s got a website, business cards, and takes online delivery orders.

Collette’s now received a fellowship through the Institute of Community Inclusion, where she’s formed a bigger business plan and is finding an investor to grow her company.

It’s not even Christmas yet and the universe has already blessed us with the perfect gift. Well, Netflix has anyway and it’s pretty great. As if the streaming service hasn’t given us plenty to be grateful for in the past, Netflix is now gifting users with the ability to download films for offline viewing.

Pinch yourself, this is not a dream. Now you never have to stop watching that film you started before the plane took off or wait until you get through that last tunnel on the train, or even fight your coworkers for that one spot in the office with good Wi-Fi. Thanks to Netflix, the bingeing possibilities are endless.

Starting today, all Netflix users worldwide will be able to download their shows for offline viewing.

It’s finally happening, people. Infinite Netflix exists and we might just need a minute to digest this glorious news.

The streaming service released a statement this morning detailing the new feature:

While many members enjoy watching Netflix at home, we’ve often heard they also want to continue their Stranger Things binge while on airplanes and other places where Internet is expensive or limited. Just click the download button on the details page for a film or TV series and you can watch it later without an internet connection.

It’s a Christmas miracle!

The downloading capability is said to be enabled in iOS and Android, on phones and tablets and will be available for those who have updated the most recent version of the app. Netflix content is currently not available to download on your laptop. That’s okay, one step at a time and this step is enough to hold us for quite a while.

According to Netflix, many of our favorite streaming series and movies are already available for download such as Orange is The New Black, Narcos and The Crown.

As if I really needed an excuse to re-binge on every episode of OITNB…but now I can watch Alex and Piper anytime anywhere and that is priceless, my friends.

However, it’s not only Netflix Originals that will be available to us.

When asked by BuzzFeed News whether their entire catalogue will be available for download by viewers, they responded: “Netflix is working with lots of partners globally to get downloading rights for the bulk of the content on our service. This is an ongoing effort as we know consumers want this capability and we are working to provide it.”

So, how long will these downloads last on your device?

Netflix says it depends on the title, but that the amount of time you have left to watch will be shown in the app so you won’t be surprised. For some titles, you may only have 48 hours to watch after you’ve hit play.

Following the announcement, the streaming service updated their iOS app to allow for downloads and in that moment the world became a better place.

Merry Christmas friends, now go forth and binge.
