What Are the Average Dimensions of the V@gin@?

Even though the majority of the female population don’t discuss it often, many women are concerned about the size of their vagina.

The size and shape of the vagina vary in each individual, and they have never been subjected to an intensive research to the same extent as the male genitalia.

Nevertheless, a recent research, which examined more than 200 women, has managed to establish the average dimensions of the vagina.

Clitoris

Just like the rest of the human anatomy, there is a great variation when it comes to the size of the clitoris.

According to the findings of the research, the average clitoral width is 0.8 centimeters while the average clitoral length is 1.6 centimeters.

The width of the participants’ clitoris ranged from 0.2 to 2.5 centimeters, and the length of the clitoris ranged from 0.4 to 4.0 centimeters.

Labia Minora

The labia minora are the smaller, inner lips which surround the vaginal opening. According to the research, the labia minora come in very different lengths in every woman.

The findings of the research showed that the two sides of the inner labia are not of the same size. The average size of the left labia minora is 2.1 centimeters wide while the right is 1.9 centimeters wide.

Moreover, on average, the left labia is 4.0 centimeters long and the right one is 3.8 centimeters long.

Labia Majora

The labia majora, also known as the outer lips, are the parentheses around the labia minora. Both of the outer lips have an average length of 8.1 centimeters, which is about the size of a nail polish bottle.

Nevertheless, the research found out that they have a range of 4.0 to 11.5 centimeters. The size of both the inner and the outer lips is not related to the size of the vagina.

And, what is interesting is that as you get older, the labia minora and the labia majora become smaller.

Vaginal Canal

The average length of the vaginal canal is 9.6 centimeters, and the range is from 6.5 to 12.5 centimeters. As for the width, the range is from 2.1 to 3.5 centimeters.

Only two women, who participated in the research, had a vaginal canal width of 2.1 centimeters. The two of them were sexually active, and both of them experienced pain during an intercourse.

So, unless you notice any pain during sex or an incapacity to use tampons, you probably fall into the normal range for the width and length of the vaginal canal.
