Many celebrities are choosing to kneel or sit during the National Anthem in order to show their disapproval for police brutality. However, others are choosing to show off their patriotism. Jennifer Nettles, who is a country singer, is one of those celebrities. A few days before the 15th anniversary of September 11th terrorist attacks, she decided to honor the country by singing “The Star Spangled Banner.”
She performed the National Anthem at the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech game. The game had over 150,000 attendees. Band Perry and Kenny Chesney performed before the game. However, Jennifer was the one who stole the show. Many people were touched by Jennifer’s performance. It seemed as though every difference was melted away. It did not matter what team people were rooting for or their race.

Tennessee ended up beating Virginia 45 to 24. However, that did not seem to matter. Jennifer’s performance was the thing that most people will remember about the game. The video of the touching performance has been uploaded to YouTube. It has been viewed over 78,000 times. One person commented saying that a true patriot will always stand for the National Anthem without having to be told to.
