They Hear Their Baby Crying, Then They Realize What Their Pet Parrot Is Doing [video]

Oh boy. As if it’s not hard enough bringing a newborn home from the hospital. The first few weeks home can be so challenging, as parents don’t get a quiet moment to themselves. It’s constant crying, diaper changing and feeding…at all hours of the day and night. Most babies can be appeased when their parents learn their favorite position and movement. Some like to be rocked side to side and others like to be bounced. Some are soothed by pacifiers and others need special music.

But one couple has it really hard when it comes to the noise in their house. After bringing a newborn home, they learned just how smart their parrot was. When the parrot began imitating the crying, whimpering baby, the couple realized that he is very intelligent, but also VERY annoying. They have learned that you can’t really appease the parrot in the same way that you can a human baby, as the bird isn’t likely to stop crying when you nuzzle it in your arms and rock it skillfully.

In the video that has gone viral, the parrot is seen pacing in his cage letting out sounds that sound exactly like his human baby sister or brother. The sound is so similar to that of a newborn, that it is almost a bit eerie. The lady is in the background trying to soothe the fussy parrot, but he just continues to launch into a series of squeaks and sobs. It actually seems as if her words are making him even more tearful, as he appears to be getting louder and more upset.

If one didn’t know any better, they’d think that this house was home to two newborns, instead of only one.

Finally, the parrot manages to calm down just as a baby would. Do the parents have to constantly soothe the bird and make sure he isn’t the one waking up the human newborn? We can imagine that the household may not be the most peaceful to be in at this time.

Commenters found the video quite funny, and some thought it was a bit eerie…

And others sympathized with the poor couple…

While it’s easy to appreciate the intelligence of this amazing creature, it’s also easy to sympathize with these poor parents who have no escape from the noise. Who knows…they may just get accustomed to the sound of the sobs and find it somehow soothing after a while. Stranger things have happened.

It will be interesting to see what happens when their precious baby turns two and starts throwing tantrums. Will the parrot mimic the unruly child’s devilish words and screeches? Or will they get so fed up that they end up really sending the parrot off to grandmas?
