Working in the service industry can be a thankless profession at times. While there’s plenty of people that go out to eat and manage to behave appropriately, there are also plenty that use a dining trip as an excuse to unleash all sorts of bad behavior. Sometimes, that bad behavior goes as far as refusing to leave a tip for their server.
As Independent Journal Review shares, this waitress has shared a pic of her paycheck, and she hopes it will open up some eyes in the process. She worked as bunch of hours that week, but what she was paid was essentially pocket change.
“The reason it was so low was because I was claiming most of my tips at that time. Basically, at the end of a shift you have to put into the computer system how much you’ve made,” she explains.

That’s a fact that many people that have never been employed in the restaurant industry fail to take into consideration. While it may seem like a server in a busy restaurant is cash rich due to the tips they receive, the reality is quite different.

“I was just trying to make it known to those that have never worked in the service industry before that tips are where our earnings come from,” she continued.
