On a summer afternoon in the north, one pet owner’s lazy cat decided to sit on the railing and fall into a deep slumber. While he was minding his own business, as it had been a long day, the cat wanted nothing more than peace and quiet so he could get a much-needed cat nap.
But out of nowhere the lazy feline gets a surprise visitor. A bald eagle. The large bird swoops down out of the sky and lands just inches from the cat taking a perch on the wooden rail.

The footage, which is from a few years ago, captures a timeless moment when two very different species of animals share a moment together.
For intense seconds, the bird and cat both remain perched on the wooden railing. Then, at about the 12-second mark, the bald eagle sees something more interesting off in the distance.
The bird takes off and flies away from the camera. But the lazy cat doesn’t want to let the bird go!
The cat stands on his haunches and then swipes at the aerial predator in a playful “don’t leave me alone again” gesture. Then the cat watches the bird settle on a different perch out past the distant houses.
Since this clip has been uploaded, more than 8 million people have tuned in to check out this cat’s reaction to the predator.
Here are some of their reactions shared in the comments:
“Cats like “Hello” eagles like “Muuuurica! yeah!” then flies off.”
“I like how the cat took one swipe at the eagle when it took off, lol!”
Some viewers were terrified that the pet owner allowed the cat out when eagles were waiting.
“I don’t think I’d let my cats outside if I lived in eagle country.”
“…the eagle is sizing up your cat!! wake the f#@& up!!”
“one day the eagles gonna pick the cat up 100 feet in the air and drop it”
One viewer said the cat was lucky the eagle wasn’t looking for dinner in that moment.
“If an eagle is in a territory that works to its an advantage (an open valley surrounded by mountains), it can even almost insta-f**k up large dogs and even full grown goats. All he has to do is pick it up by a vulnerable part, glide down into the open and let the bodies hit the floor. All the eagle has to do then is pick up the carcass and eat it. Maximum amount of damage, minimum amount of energy. No pain but total gain.”
“Pet owners are so stupid. Sometimes i thing that most people have shit instead of brains. The eagle can grab that cat and the owner will never see his pet again. And by the way: cats are predators, if eagle was smaller cat probably would eat him. I hate people.”
Do you think the owner should have better protected their cat? Or was this harmless fun?
