In 2011, a North Carolina couple sent in a plea for help to the show ‘Extreme Home Makeover’. The show came and built them an 8-bedroom ‘House of Hope’ and showered the family with gifts. The oldest children, now adults, said after the cameras stopped rolling the couple threw out their adoptive children.
Devonda and James Friday said they were adopting five siblings to ‘keep the family together’. After they got their beautiful new 8-bedroom home, though, the two of the adopted siblings said the kids were systematically kicked out.
Chris Friday was the first to go before the show even aired; he was sent as a teen to live in a group home. The Fridays blamed his behavior. Kamaya was the next teen to be sent to a group home.

Soon after that, the three younger children were put into different foster homes. “My brother and sisters were 5 years old. How can they get [into] that much trouble where they have to kick them out?” Chris said in an interview with WSOC-TV.

Mom Devonda turned in her minivan for a luxury car. The kids say she spent Sears gift cards given to the couple by the show to use for charity were all spent on Devonda.
Chris and Kamara, now adults, feel like the siblings were used. The couple is now under investigation for fraud accusations.
