GINGRICH: TRUMP SHOULD USE THE POWER OF THE PARDON FOR ADMINISTRATION MEMBERS

As the administration of President-elect Donald Trump continues to come into focus, questions are raised on a daily basis on some of his appointments. Additionally, there have been a ton of rumors floating around about the potential roles of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and it’s undoubtedly leading to a ton of uncomfortable conversations at Trump Tower and Mar-A-Lago.

As The Hill reports, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has a clear-cut way for Trump to put those conversations to rest.

“It is a totally open power, and he could simply say, ‘Look, I want them to be my advisers. I pardon them if anyone finds them to have behaved against the rules. Period.’ Technically, under the Constitution, he has that level of authority,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich shared those comments as a guest on “The Diane Rehm Show,” but he was quick to point out that the incoming president has to tread carefully in certain areas.

“It’s a very real problem. I don’t think this is something minor. I think certainly in an age that people are convinced that government corruption is widespread both in the U.S. and around the world, you can’t just shrug and walk off from it,” he continued.
