The terrifying ordeal of a Sherri Papini finally came to a close when she was reunited with her family on Thanksgiving, and additional details of the trauma she endured continue to be revealed. As reported by ABC News, she was found to have a strange message branded into her skin, in addition to extensive bruising.
Papini, a 34-year-old mother-of-two in California, was abducted while running a few weeks back, and that set off a massive manhunt. She was located on the side of the road about 150 miles from her home after she flagged down some help – despite being bound by restraints.
She suffered extensive injuries during her ordeal, including a message that was branded into her skin.

“I would think that that was some sort of either an exertion of power and control and/or maybe some type of message that the brand contained. It is not a symbol, but it was a message,” said Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko.

Her husband Keith provided some more details on the condition of his wife.
“Her now emaciated body of 87 pounds was covered in multicolored bruises, severe burns, red rashes and chain markings,” he said.
Additionally, the captors chopped off her hair.
“Obviously, a very sick person who may have wanted to not only to cut it off to change her physical appearance but also as to humiliate them, wear her down,” he continued.
Police continue to investigate the bizarre case. Sherri has described her kidnappers as a pair of adult women of Hispanic descent.
