A Dutch hospital has come up with an innovative way to help new moms after childbirth. As shared by AWM, they’ve designed a maternity bed that comes with a bassinet built right into it.
Instead of trekking down to the nursery to get a look at their precious little one, baby can be placed right in the same bed as mom. This is especially helpful for mothers that are breastfeeding, as they would normally have to wait for the nurse to bring the baby to them.
“Mother and child are thus close together and can touch each other without the intervention of a nurse,” the hospital’s website touts.

Pictures have been making the rounds on social media, and most users are quite impressed.

“Such a good idea after C-section. I couldn’t touch/lift my baby for ages. She always had to be handed to me,” shared one user.
However, not everyone is a big fan. Iffath Hoskins, MD, an OB-GYN at NYU Langone Medical Center, points out that it’s important for new moms to move around after childbirth to fight off the potential for blood clots, and there’s some danger if mom falls asleep with the newborn right by her side.
