She Blacks Out In Store From News Of Mom’s Death, Then A Woman Notices Her And Sits Down

Angel Mott received the worst call of her life. On Black Friday, she was shopping for a couple of dog beds for her German shepherds at Mills Fleet Farm in Des Moines, IA.

That’s when she got a phone call in the middle of the shopping aisle: her mom had died. That’s a call that no one is prepared for.

“Angel, honey,” she recalls the nurse saying, “your mom passed away.”

Mott couldn’t contain her grief. Understandably, she broke down smack dab in the crowd of shoppers. She was losing it.

“I just kind of blacked out,” Mott said, “and I just started crying uncontrollably. And I sat down on the shelves probably for about five minutes and just bawled.”

Most people kept walking by Mott or just ignored her, but one woman did something different. She was a total stranger; in fact, the only detail Mott could remember was that she had purple highlights.

“I sat down on the shelf in the aisle and must’ve bawled for several minutes,” Mott wrote in a Facebook post. “Some nice lady with black hair and purple highlights sat down with me and hugged me for about five minutes. She cried with me. I would just like to thank her very much. Not one person stopped to see if I was OK. But her and her sister did and I appreciate that more than they’ll ever know!”

Soon after posting the story on social media, the mystery woman’s sister contacted Mott to let her know the purple-haired stranger’s name: Stephanie Uhlenberg.

“She had these tears coming down her face,” Uhlenberg said. “I sat next to her and held her. I didn’t know what else to do.”

The two women reunited with an emotional hug, and in a single moment, a new friendship was born.

“That hug meant the world to me,” Mott said. “It made me feel like people actually still care.”

Please SHARE this incredible reunion if you’re glad people still look out for each other.
