FBI Director James Comey has told Donald Trump that federal investigators are finding no proof of Russians succeeding in their alleged attempts to change the outcome of the U.S. presidential election, Newsmax reported.
According to The Washington Post, the CIA informed congressional leaders last week that Russian hackers attacked the computers of officials at the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager. The spy agency alleged that the operation’s goal was to help Trump become president.
Comey claimed that National Intelligence Director James Clapper also has uncovered no evidence that the hacking was responsible for Clinton’s loss. The FBI chief remarked the CIA Director John Brennan “takes his marching orders from President Obama.”

Comey suggested that charges of election tampering by the Russians are merely part of Democratic efforts to undermine Trump. The Clinton campaign and other Democrats accuse Comey of influencing the Nov. 8 vote by reopening the bureau’s investigation of emails related to the former secretary of state just 11 days before the election.

Comey told Trump that the FBI has known for a year that Russians wanted to disrupt the race for the White House. He blamed individuals, rather than the Russian government, for the cyber attacks. “It’s unclear why (Russian President Vladimir) Putin would have preferred dealing with Donald Trump, who has promised a major military buildup, over Hillary Clinton, who would have continued Barack Obama’s cautious policies toward the Kremlin,” a source told Newsmax.
