Singer Richard Marx came to the aid of an untrained flight crew Dec. 20 to help subdue an unruly passenger on a Korea Air flight.
Marx helped restrain the passenger throughout the four-hour flight from Hanoi to Seoul, Daily Mail reported.
“On our flight from Hanoi to Seoul a guy sitting in the next row from us got crazy & started attacking the flight attendants & passengers,” wrote Daisy Fuentes, Marx’s wife, on Instagram, according to Variety.

The man began attacking flight attendants and pulling their hair, prompting Marx to step in.

Marx confirmed the account in a separate post.
“The all female crew was clueless and not trained as to how to restrain this psycho and he was only initially subdued when I and a couple other male passengers intervened,” he wrote, according to Daily Mail.
The crew reportedly had a taser and rope restraint, but were not able to use them properly. This meant the man was able to break free from the rope restraint.
When the flight arrived in South Korea, local police boarded the plane and arrested the man.
“I feel horrible for the abuse the staff had to endure but no one was prepared for this. They never fully got control of him,” wrote Fuentes, Variety reported.
Marx was returning from a performance at a Christmas concert in Hanoi Dec. 19. He performed alongside local pop stars at the Hanoi Opera House, VN Express reported.
Marx was the first solo artist to secure a top five position for each of his first seven singles on the Billboard 100 chart. Total record sales of his music worldwide have surpassed 30 million.
