SANDERS: TRUMP CABINET ‘RIGGED’ IN FAVOR OF BIG BUSINESS

Donald Trump’s selection of corporate executives for Cabinet posts and other top governmental positions indicates the new administration will be “rigged” against the people, Sen. Bernie Sanders declared Thursday.

The Hill reported that the independent Vermont lawmaker, referring to Trump’s nominee for Treasury Department secretary, asked on Twitter: “Is Mr. (Steve) Mnuchin, a former executive at Goldman Sachs, going to rein in Wall Street’s greed and illegal behavior? I doubt it.” The message featured the hashtag “rigged Cabinet.”

It was not the first time Sanders has slammed the president-elect for picking Mnunchin. He and Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts previously issued a joint statement condemning the choice. They accused Trump of reneging on his campaign promise to “drain the swamp” in the nation’s capital.

Rex Tillerson, the ExxonMobil CEO whom Trump has proposed for secretary of state; and Scott Pruitt, the nominee to head the Environmental Protection Agency, also came under fire from Sanders. The Hill noted that many Democrats, along with a few Republicans, have criticized Tillerson for his business relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Sanders warned that making an oil executive the country’s top diplomat is “very sad; very dangerous.” He proclaimed that Tillerson’s nomination “must be opposed.”
