YOU'LL BE $30K WEALTHIER IF YOU FIND THIS PARTICULAR QUARTER AMONG YOUR POCKET CHANGE

An eBay user is auctioning a valuable quarter at the price of $35,000. The rare coin has an error that upped its value– you might want to check your change purse.

The quarter was made at the San Francisco mint in 1970, but the wrong mold was used. Above the word ‘dollar’ is a faint impression that reads ‘1941.’

California realized the error at the time and auctioned off the coins with the mistaken imprint. The coin on eBay was found in a safety deposit box, but some might have been accidentally let into circulation.

Coin collectors warn people against dropping a bundle on coins auctioned on websites like eBay– it’s very easy to fake a re-strike on an old quarter with supplies that can be found at craft stores. Unless the seller can offer some kind of appraisal, you might not end up laughing all the way to the bank. Instead, someone might just take you to the cleaners.
