President-elect Trump is certainly no stranger to expressing his thoughts on Twitter, but one recent tweet led to even more eyebrows being raised than normal. As Newsmax reports, that’s because the tweet centered on our nation’s nuclear capabilities, and Trump thinks we’re lacking in that department.
It was a completely unsolicited tweet, so that’s part of what made it furrow so many brows.
“The United States must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes,” it read.

The tweet appeared, social media exploded, and the mainstream media quickly latched onto it as the latest reason that civilization as we know it is teetering on the edge. Expressions of shock and horror were all over the airwaves, as were the usual collection of well-practiced facial expressions that show us they are really, really, really concerned.

“It is completely irresponsible for the president-elect or the president to make changes to U.S. nuclear policy in 140 characters and without understanding the implications of statements like ‘expand the capacity,'” shared Daryl Kimball, the executive director of the Arms Control Association.
Trump spokesman Jason Miller tried to clear things up, saying that the president-elect was “referring to the threat of nuclear proliferation and the critical need to prevent it – particularly to and among terrorist organizations and unstable and rogue regimes.”
