Officer Kondak of Tarpon Springs was shot and killed in 2014, when he was responding to what was expected to be a routine call. The entire neighborhood was devastated. Kondak was one of the best officers and this was the least they expected to happen to him. Two years later, his daughter was going to her prom dance, and her father was obviously not going to be there to escort her like the other girls’ dads.
That’s when her mom got an idea and she decided to make it worthwhile for her daughter. She contacted her late husband’s colleagues and asked them to help, make her daughter’s prom the best she could her. She wanted them to wait for her and escort her to the dance. The officers accepted the request and they staged the surprise. Aleena did not know what her mother had planned. It was an awesome surprise for her when the officers showed up to escort her. They felt it was sad her father wouldn’t be there, but were honored to represent him.
