Weekends are typically relatively quiet on the political news front, but the weekend that just passed was anything but that. President Donald Trump’s executive order to block immigration from certain countries sparked a wave of confusion and outrage, not to mention a whole host of protests at airports across the nation.
As the Huffington Post shares, commentary has flown in fast and furious from all sides, and that includes some thoughts from someone who has been flying under the radar of late. Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton weighed in on the controversy by sharing her thoughts on social media.
“I stand with the people gathered across the country tonight defending our values & our Constitution. This is not who we are,” she wrote.

Clinton was then slammed for being a hypocrite. While Secretary of State, back in 2011, she recommended a similar ban on Muslims for six months. This came after the FBI uncovered evidence that proved dozens of terrorists from Iraq had gained access to the United States through the refugee program.

Trump’s executive order is aimed at getting a handle on the influx of refugees from countries that may be home to terrorists, but the implementation was rushed and bungled – to say the least. Passengers with valid visas were detained for some time at airports including JFK in New York City, and it got worse as the weekend progressed.
That led protesters to gather at numerous airports, as well as wall-to-wall coverage on the cable news networks. Federal judges in four states have temporarily halted parts of the order, but the Trump administration remains steadfast in keeping it in place.
