Owl Missed The Man Who Saved Her So Much She Couldn’t Stop Hugging Him

GiGi, the owl, is about to meet the man who is called the “birds of prey whisperer.” This story actually took place back in June 2016. His real name is Douglas Pojeky. GiGi is a great horned owl that ended up at Mississippi’s Wild at Heart Rescue after being hit by a car GiGi had a concussion.

She also had parasites and aspergillosis (similar to pneumonia). Missy Dubuisson, the director and founder of Wild at Heart said that GiGi was the most critically injured patient they had ever cared for at the rescue.

To no one’s surprise, GiGi and Pojeky developed a unique bond while GiGi was in their care. GiGi approaches Pojeky and bobs her head and dances a little on his arm. She even walked all the way up to his chest and gave him what looks like a hug!

That is not something you see every day! Look at how calm and peaceful GiGi is resting her head on his shoulder! Dubuisson said that she is amazed at how much the wild birds trust Pojeky. She gets tears in her eyes every time she watches him interact with the birds.

GiGi was in such bad shape when she arrived that she actually lost weight at first. With time, she was able to gain the weight back, and she was able to recover from her concussion and aspergillosis.

Once she is strong enough, she will be released to the wild.

Pojeky is the president and lead rescuer at Wild at Heart Rescue.
