An Ohio family that was already left reeling by one senseless tragedy now finds themselves dealing with another. As the Daily Mail explains, 55-year-old Randy Budd has shot himself to death, just two years after his wife was left permanently disabled.
Back in July 2014, Sharon Budd suffered massive injuries when a rock was hurled towards the vehicle she was traveling in by a group of teenagers. The five-pound rock was tossed off of an overpass, and it hurled through the windshield of a car being driven by her daughter Kayla. She has required constant care since the incident, and Randy was her primary caregiver.
He was home alone with his wife when he killed himself, and he had texted family members to let them know he loved them before pulling the trigger.

“Randy Budd did not die from a gunshot. He died when those kids threw a rock through his windshield. They killed him like they killed her,” said Peter Johnson, the Union County district attorney.

Randy has been pushing hard for the requirement of fencing on overpasses ever since the incident involving his wife, and he also texted one final message to State Sen. Gene Yaw before he made his fateful decision.
“Please get the fence issue settled,” he wrote.
