No one likes going to a health care provider to get stuck with a needle, but for some people it can be a total nightmare. Some people have to endure poke after poke as health care workers attempt to find and pierce a vein. The condition, known as ‘shy veins,’ can make drawing blood, getting shots or inserting intravenous lines a lot more traumatizing than they need to be.
Thankfully, medical technology is coming to the rescue of those with shy veins, and the medical professionals who treat them. A device designed by Christie Medical Holdings uses an infrared light to help medical professionals find those pesky veins.
The light locates the blood’s hemoglobin and veins up to a half inch deep will glow. The light is completely harmless and painless.

The device is small and easy to handle. Medical professionals can hook it up to a movable rig, or they can even hold it by hand and shine it down on a patient’s skin.
