President Donald Trump’s every waking second has been subject to analysis since he was sworn in, but the same can not be said for First Lady Melania Trump. She’s flown carefully under the radar since the inauguration, outside of a few random appearances while running errands. The couple is maintaining separate residences so that youngest son Barron can finish out the school year, and Melania has yet to take on an active schedule for the role of First Lady.
As the Daily Mail reports, that changed at least a little bit this weekend, as the First Couple reunited for the weekend at Mar-A-Lago, which has come to be known as the ‘Winter’ White House. The pair flew down to Palm Beach, Florida, and Trump was quick to address supporters that had gathered to greet him as he descended Air Force One.

“I told you I’d win that election,” he said. That statement seems a bit odd, given that was his first thought after seeing his wife, Melania, as they’ve been separated the past few weeks.

The unique living situation chosen by the couple has been a source of endless speculation and fascination by the media and public, as it certainly makes for an unusual visual. The sense is that Trump is toiling away in the White House all by his lonesome, while Melania remains back in New York City still trying to cope with being thrust into a role she may not be comfortable with. While there’s no confirmation that the latter is in fact the case, narratives have a way of forming and becoming the story when speculation is not properly extinguished.
We’ll have to wait and see how things play out on that front, as the arrangement will remain in place until after the school year. From that point, Melania and Barron are scheduled to move into the White House, but it’s unclear if that will just be for the summer or as a part of a permanent shift. For this weekend at least, Melania looked right at home attending the Red Cross Ball with her husband, so speculation on her overall apprehension may simply be much ado about nothing.
