One pastor is being accused of not practicing what he preached. The holy man just released a book that was supposed to model ‘Godly manhood’. Shortly after, the married pastor was busted for having an affair with another man’s wife. He was discovered in the most compromising position.
Pastor O. Jermaine Simmons, 36, of the Chapel Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida had previously been praised for his ministry. Since he took charge of the church in 2005, it flourished to more than 4,000 members. He added a number of projects, including 27 new ministries and efforts to help the growing homeless problem in Florida.

Simmons seemed to be on top of the world. He had just released his first book, the Bible-based publication ‘I Need a Man”.

“In today’s world, there is a real need for men to engage in honest dialogue regarding their struggles and triumphs in life. While there are many definitions of manhood, both sacred and secular, many men find it difficult to apply those truths to their daily lives,” reads the description of Simmons’ book on Amazon.com. “Using the Holy Scriptures as a foundation, you will discover why every man needs a godly man in his life and how each man can reach back and become a mentor himself. Indeed, God can use the struggles of one man to strengthen another.”
Last week, the very same pastor was found naked, cowering behind a fence, hiding from the husband of his mistress. The husband had stumbled in while his wife and the pastor were engaged in a tryst, and was looking for the pastor with a gun in tow.
He was discovered when the mistress called police to warn them her husband had a gun and was looking for her lover.
Simmons stood before his congregation and asked for forgiveness on the following Sunday. He also felt that he already had forgiveness from where it counts. “What I want from God, I have already received — that’s his forgiveness,” he said.
The angry husband had threatened to expose the pastor on Facebook. The husband was not charged because he never actually pointed a gun at anyone.
“I’m hurting because I’ve hurt you,” Simmons said to his congregation is a video recorded by one member. “I can’t speak to people on the outside. I am not Tallahassee’s pastor. I am not Florida’s pastor. I am Jacob Chapel’s pastor.”
The congregation applauded when Simmons said, “It hurts me that you have to defend my actions. You cannot defend sin.”
