It’s no secret that House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi is not a fan of President Donald Trump or his policies, and she’s been doing her best to sound the alarm at every turn. It’s also no secret that the Democratic Party as a whole is still licking its wounds from the general election, and the fractured party has been all over the map in terms of the best way to unite and respond, and a recent CNN ‘Town Hall’ event with Pelosi was put together to make some headway on both fronts. However, as Mad World News points out, the gaffe-filled event did not have the desired effect.
In fact, it accomplished quite the opposite and pointed out the larger problems within the Democratic Party as a whole. In a nutshell, the Democrat’s stance is that anyone that disagrees with their line of thinking is a horrible person, and we will all suffer the consequences if they don’t smarten up and get on board. A large portion of voters does not agree with that stance, and they don’t appreciate being talked down on to boot. In most situations, the affected party or organization would regroup and tweak its message so that it better resonates, but this isn’t most situations.

The Democratic Party remains convinced that their way is the only way, and they’re not shy about ramping up the rhetoric and/or tugging at heartstrings to get their point across. Pelosi and company took that tact during the Town Hall, and they proceeded to fail miserably. She took the time to answer questions that were intended to ramp up sympathy for the Democratic agenda. Several of them fell incredibly flat to the point that commenters wondered whether they were staged, including awkward exchanges with a Muslim student, and another with a college student that identifies as gay.

Add it all up, and it remains mind-boggling that Pelosi was chosen for another stint as House Minority leader, but it’s simply par for the course for a political party that refuses to see that the rampant problems within their own agenda stems from party leadership to begin with.
