My, how she’s grown. It’s hard to believe that Malia Obama is 18-years-old already, but the former First Daughter is officially a young woman, and that comes complete with her own responsibilities and social life. In fact, she’s taken on an internship in New York City, and she was recently spotted out and about at an exclusive after party that was chock full of celebs.
As the Daily Mail reports, Malia attended a party to celebrate the final season of the hit HBO show ‘Girls,’ for which she has previously served as an intern. She certainly looked right at home among the famous guests, which included the cast of the show, as well as Maggie Gyllenhaal, Judd Apatow, Rita Wilson and Leslie Mann. Reports indicate that Malia’s appearance was a surprise one, and attendees showered her with attention.

Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Lena Dunham and Zosia Mamet are among the cast members of the celebrated show, and the shindig went down at the famed Cipriani restaurant in the heart of the Big Apple. Several photos have been making the rounds of Malia hobnobbing with the guests, and you can bet the paparazzi is on high alert now that Malia is in town.

As for her new gig, Malia is interning at the Weinstein Company, which is a film studio in the city. It’s believed that Malia is an aspiring filmmaker, so a plum internship at a respected studio will go a long way towards helping her achieve that goal. She is slated to head to college this fall, so it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Malia is in the midst of a ‘gap year’ prior to hitting the books again, but things can change fast. Once in a lifetime opportunities have a tendency to change people, so we’ll see if the film bug turns into an all-consuming passion for the Obama’s eldest daughter.
