IVANKA LETS LADY GAGA KNOW WHAT SHE THOUGHT OF HER PERFORMANCE

Lady Gaga delivered a captivating performance during halftime of Super Bowl 51, and she managed to do it without stirring up all sorts of controversy. She rolled through a set of her biggest hits without issue, and performed a number of breathtaking stunts along the way. Whether you’re a fan of her music or not, there’s little doubt that she remains one of the most talented performers alive today.

Heading into the Super Bowl, there were big concerns that she would use the platform to make a political statement, but Gaga decided it was best to stay out of the fray. Or did she? As Metro reports, a number of commenters believe that she did in fact make a statement, it was just of the subtle variety.

She opened her set with a cover of Woody Guthrie’s This Land Is Your Land, and several observers have pointed out that the tune is a familiar anthem for protesters. Did Gaga include the song as a subtle jab towards President Trump’s immigration policy? If so, that was lost on Ivanka Trump, who was particularly impressed with the star’s performance.

“Incredible performance by @ladygaga #PepsiHalftime#SuperBowl,” Ivanka shared on social media.

As for the president himself, he resisted the urge to share on social media for once, absent a simple post before kickoff.

“Enjoy the #SuperBowl and then we continue: MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he wrote.

Prior to her performance, Gaga was asked incessantly about whether she would be making a political statement during her performance. She managed to nail the answer to that as well.

“Well, I don’t know if I will succeed in unifying America. You’ll have to ask America when it’s over. But the only statements that I’ll be making during the halftime show are the ones that I’ve been consistently making throughout my career, I believe in a passion for inclusion. I believe in the spirit of equality, and the spirit of this country as one of love and compassion and kindness. So my performance will have both those philosophies,” she said.
