5-YEAR-OLD BOY WALKS INTO POLICE STATION WITH SIGN AROUND NECK, STUNS COPS

Sometimes little things can make a big difference. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department recently found this out courtesy of a sensitive five-year-old boy. When Jayden Hooker heard about police officers being hurt in clashes with protesting crowds in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, he wanted to do something to make things better.

Note that back on September 20th of last year, a black man named Keith Lamont Scott was shot and killed by a Charlotte police officer. The controversial shooting led to both peaceful protests and violent riots in Charlotte over two nights. Local media sources note that around a dozen police officers and civilians were injured in the two evenings of rioting.

A five-year-old boy who lives in Charlotte named Jayden asked his mom, Deanna if they could go down to the police station and give out hugs and donuts to the officers. His mom agreed to his surprising request and they showed up at the station with donuts and a sign saying “Free Hugs”.

“This little boy was woken up and scared from the helicopters and sirens outside our home last night.

On the way to school, he heard about the injured police last night on the radio and asked if he could bring them donuts and give them a hug after school. That’s just what he did.”

When Jayden and Deanna got to the police station, they were a huge hit and everybody wanted a picture with Jayden. The kind-hearted young man also gave scores of hugs and told the police officers how glad he was they are here protect his family.

Local TV reporters showed up a bit later, and Jayden remarked:

“I’m happy the police officers didn’t get really hurt. I want you to stay safe and I don’t want anybody to hurt you.”
