There have been a number of breathtaking images from Inauguration Day making the rounds, and they run the gamut from poignant to heartwarming and all points in between. As the Daily Mail shares, there’s at least one image that belongs in a category all by itself.
As the Trump’s arrived at the White House on the big day, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were waiting at the steps to greet the incoming first couple, as per long-standing tradition. Tradition went by the wayside once the SUV carrying President-elect Donald Trump and future First Lady Melania Trump parked.
It appears as if Trump couldn’t wait to get inside, as he quickly marched up the stairs after exiting the vehicle – leaving Melania behind with a confused look on her face in the process. Several awkward photos encapsulate the whole scene, as Trump raced to greet the Obamas and Melania sheepishly made her way up the stairs by herself.

Former presidents such as George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were careful to wait for their wives to be by their sides before ascending the stairs. Perhaps it was nervous energy or simple overzealousness that caused the oversight, but it’s certainly not a good look for Trump’s first day in office.
