A Pennsylvania couple has found themselves behind bars after the dark secret they had been hiding for months managed to sneak its way out into the open. Unfortunately, the situation would take a nasty turn as police officers found a room in the back of the duo’s home – and they were left horrified as they peered inside.
The attention of social workers was brought to the home of Joshua and Brandi Weyant after they had learned what they were doing for the past three months. Of course, they’d later investigate a few rumors they heard, which is when they stumbled upon a locked room in the back of the house.
As one would image, those searching the home at the time were horrified to open the door and see three filthy children – ages 4, 5, and 6 years old — nearly starved to death. According to WFXT, the disgusting parents had locked the children in the room with just three cots and nothing else, and they were in the process of letting them waste away.

Doctors who examined the children said that the 5-year-old girl, who weighed just 26 pounds, was just a mere week away from dying. “They were locked in a room with no heat source,” said Ed Marsico, Dauphin County district attorney. “They were given no food, we believe, for the last few months. Their weight was just skin and bone.”
As if that wasn’t enough to churn just about anyone’s stomach, the conditions of the room in which they found the children certainly were. Unfortunately, the mold, lice, and bedbugs infesting their prison-like quarters were the least of the children’s worries as the parents only made things worse.
As the starving children explained, they would have to knock on the walls to get someone to bring them to the bathroom, and when no one came, they defecated and urinated right there on the floor. In the end, the sickly kids were covered in dirt, urine, and encrusted in human waste when they were rescued by police.
The children reportedly complained several times that they were hungry, saying the last thing they remembered eating was a single apple. “The parents’ rooms and other rooms has more than sufficient clothing, food, and heat,” Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Gettle said. “Animals were well-fed. The adults were well-fed.”
Fortunately, the children are out of the home with their parents in jail. Although two of the children have been placed in foster care, their youngest is still in the hospital and is expected to suffer ongoing health issues on account of what they all went through.
Joshua and Brandi have since been charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, and a slew of other related offenses. Even better yet, they’re being remanded on $1 million bail, ensuring that these two monsters can’t hurt anyone else while they’re put on trial.
