A Colorado mother opened up on Facebook about her teenage daughter’s sexual abuse at the hands of her ex-husband (video below).
Catherine St. Germain of Loveland, Colorado, experienced every parent’s worst nightmare when she got a call from the police on April 23, 2015, asking her to go to the station with her daughter and not tell her husband, KUSA reports.
When St. Germain arrived at the station, she was given a statement that her daughter had made accusing her husband, Aaron Scott, of sexually assaulting her the night before.

” … I started reading and I don’t think I even made it more than a couple of lines in,” St. Germain, 34, told KUSA. “And I just collapsed on her. And hugged her and told her I was so sorry and how much I loved her.”

The woman’s daughter was 15 years old at the time of the abuse.
On April 8, St. Germain posted a video to Facebook in which she holds up a series of note cards telling her daughter’s story.
According to the video, St. Germain married Scott, an ex-cop and U.S. Navy veteran, in June 2014.
Immediately after finding out about the abuse, St. Germain asked Scott to leave her home and formally divorced him in September 2015. She explained that Scott, who has three children of his own, maintained his innocence until DNA evidence confirmed the teenager’s allegations against him.
At that point, he accepted a plea bargain, and in January, he was sentenced to 90 days in jail and eight years of sex offender probation.
St. Germain warned other parents in the video that “monsters look and act normal” and advised single mothers to check sex offender registries in order to keep their families safe.
The video has since gone viral, garnering over 39 million views and 57,000 shares in four days.
St. Germain told KUSA that she was proud of the way her daughter reacted to the ordeal.
“I keep saying I didn’t do anything brave, my kid did,” she said. “My kid did the bravest thing. She spoke out against the person who sexually assaulted her within 24 hours.”
