As a president’s time in office comes to a close, it’s generally time for a little reflection on what went right and what went wrong as they prepare to hand the reins over to their successor. That hasn’t been the case for President Obama, and he’s making a point of not going away quietly. In fact, he thinks he would have won again if he had been allowed to run.
As the Daily Mail reports, that remark hasn’t gone unnoticed by President-elect Donald Trump, who took to Twitter to offer up an opposing view.
“President Obama said that he thinks he would have won against me. He should say that but I say NO WAY! – jobs leaving, ISIS, OCare, etc” he tweeted.

If we flash back to the final days of the presidential campaign, Obama has already received his answer on that boast. One of his talking points was that the election was some kind of referendum on his legacy, and that he would take Trump winning as something resembling a personal affront. The voters have spoken, but that hasn’t stopped Obama from seeing things quite differently.

“You know, I am confident in this vision because I’m confident that if I – if I had run again and articulated it, I think I could’ve mobilized a majority of the American people to rally behind it,” he said.
