OBAMA ADMINISTRATION ACCEPTING MORE REFUGEES THIS YEAR

The number of foreign refugees allowed into the United States has been rapidly increasing during President Obama’s last several months in office, according to the Daily Caller.

The website, citing statistics from the U.S. State Department, reported that from Oct. 1 through Dec. 27, immigration authorities resettled 25,671 refugees in various states. That amounts to nearly 300 daily, compared with 157 a day (a total of 13,791) during the same period last year. If the current trend continues, there will be twice as many refugees in the current fiscal year than in 2015-16, when almost 85,000 people fleeing their war-torn homelands found refuge in the United States.

The controversial resettlement of migrants from Syria has been expanding dramatically. More than 3,566 of them have come to America since Oct. 1, up from the 674 from Oct. 1 through Dec. 27, 2015. Somalian refugee totals have doubled, according to the Daily Caller.

The site pointed out that Donald Trump made illegal immigration a major issue in his presidential campaign. He opposed Obama’s open-door policy for refugees, warning that some of the migrants could be terrorists planning to commit violence in the United States.

The president-elect has called for “extreme vetting” of everyone who tries to enter the country. “A Trump administration will not admit any refugees without the support of the local community where they are being placed,” he declared at a rally last month.
