IT'S JUST A PICTURE OF SOME ROCKS, RIGHT? LOOK CLOSER. THERE'S SOMETHING ELSE THERE

Johannes Stötter is an amazing artist in a category all his own. Whether you call it camouflage art, puzzle art, obfuscation art or optical illusion art, his ability to paint human bodies to match their surroundings is truly astounding.

Stötter, who resides in Italy, has been creating his mind-bending art since 2009 and has become increasingly renowned for his ability to mix fine art with realistic body-painting. An avid nature lover, Johannes’ art fuses natural environments and the human form to create surreal illusions. He has painted his models to look like and completely blend in with trees, wildlife, fruits vegetables, stones and more.

By meticulously painting his models, Stötter manages to seamlessly blend his subjects into their surroundings. His eye is so good, that it’s often very difficult to tell where the model begins and the natural background ends.

Johannes skyrocketed to global fame back in 2013, when his creation of an image of a bright green and red tropical frog formed of five human bodies went viral and made headlines all over the world. He has produced more than a dozen remarkable pieces in his seven years as a practicing artist.
