A man posted a video on Facebook after doing something he was apparently very proud of: he rescued a deer. The deer was lucky to run into such a kind (and strong) person with a good heart.
Drew Kitchens was driving down a very dark road when he spotted a deer on the side of the road in his headlights. The poor deer had a leg caught in the wire fence. Kitchens set up his phone on his dashboard to film the rescue.
Kitchens cautiously approaches the frightened deer and has to lift the beautiful creature up to help free him from the fence. The man struggled to cradle the deer in one arm and free the leg with his other hand. When the deer started to struggle, the man picked it up even higher and held it over his shoulder.

After a nerve-wracking minute. the deer’s leg is freed. Kitchens smiled and carried the deer closer to the car to show it off for the camera. “We saved him!” he shouted.

He put the deer down, and it bolted away.
Kitchens describes the whole scene in his own words on Facebook: “Was very fortunate to save this little button buck tonight. Found him with his back leg hung in a fence. Luckily he hadn’t been hanging there long and wasn’t too much damage to his leg. Didn’t feel to good getting kicked in the stomach at the end but felt good knowing he wouldn’t be hanging there waiting for the coyotes to make an easy meal outta him.”
Many people would have been afraid to approach a live wild animal. What a compassionate thing to do.
