A woman in Florida went to pick up her 11-month-old son at a day care because they called her and said he had a ‘fever.’ When she arrived, they handed her the child all wrapped up in his jacket so she couldn’t see his face. The mother is now suing them because she discovered they were trying to cover up a terrible accident.
Estania Eloi says the Heart to Heart Learning Center badly burned her baby and didn’t offer him any medical attention. In addition, the day care center lied to the mother about his condition, by telling her he was sick with a fever.
Eloi says she got the call and came to pick up her son, Nathaniel. They practically tossed the baby out the door as soon as she knocked and had bundled him up to hide part of his face.

“When I got to the door, she [daycare worker] told me, here here, go to the hospital, he has a fever. But I didn’t get to see this side of his face,” said Eloi. “I know it’s an accident but you didn’t try to help my child. He could’ve died at the school.”

When Eloi got to the hospital with Nathaniel, doctors discovered he’d been badly burned. Reports say someone spilled boiling hot water on the baby boy’s head, side of his face and shoulder. He had to be airlifted to a Burn Center in Miami to treat the severe injuries.
The day care is being investigated by police and child protective services, not only for failing to meet safety procedures for bottle warming, but because they failed to tend to the severe injury by calling 911.
