ZOO KEEPERS ASSUME PANDA'S BABY IS STILLBORN AFTER 3 DAYS IN LABOR WHEN SUDDENLY PANDA ROLLS OVER AND GIVES BIRTH

A panda on a wildlife reserve in China went into labor, and her caretakers were excited about the birth. As the labor stretched on, however, they began to worry. The panda was in labor for three days, and her caretakers began to think the cub would be stillborn. The baby finally came, and thankfully, was alive.

CCTV footage captured the beautiful scene for all to see. Min Min the panda was struggling with a difficult labor for three days. Just watching her facial expressions and positions are enough to make any woman who has been in labor feel for her.

Finally, Min Min rolled over and caretakers were excited to see a little pink, hairless head emerge.

The reason Min Min had so much difficulty giving birth is because her baby weighed 7.5 ounces– that’s nearly twice as large as the average panda cub. Pandas have the smallest newborns relative to their mother’s size, next to marsupials.

A panda will give birth to a baby 1/900 of its own weight. This would be the equivalent of a human woman giving birth to a milk dud, but as Min Min shows, it doesn’t mean it’s any easier for Panda moms.

Min Min gave birth to a real fighter– the female cub came out screaming, thrashing and struggling. Mother and daughter are doing well.
