A child’s imagination knows no limits, and it can also lead to some misunderstandings from time to time. In a perfect world, those they come in contact with will avoid the awkwardness that can come from these misunderstandings, thus sparking the child’s imagination even further in the process.
As NX2 shares, that’s what we see in this classic video that gains a ton of traction each year around the holidays. It’s actually a commercial from the United States Marine Corps released back in 1997, but it remains just as poignant today.
In the video, a young boy comes across a steely-eyed marine at his post. The child tries to prod him with questions, but the marine follows the orders of his post and continues to look straight ahead. Eventually, the kid stops beating around the bush and drops a doozy of a question on him. He wants to get his list to Santa Claus, and he asks the marine straight out if he’s actually St. Nick.

The marine continues to look straight ahead, but he reaches out his hand to grab the child’s list as he looks on in amazement. The touching commercial revolves around the USMC’s “Toys for Tots” program, which is still going strong to this day.
