Mom’s Gut Instinct Told Her The Doctors Weren’t Right, Leads To A True Miracle

Pregnancy tests can be tricky. They certainly aren’t foolproof, and like most items, the more your pay the more likely you are to get accurate results.

Diana Bruner has had quite the emotional experience when it comes to pregnancy tests. After she and her husband had been trying to conceive for years, they were ecstatic to discover that she was finally pregnant, according to a store bought pregnancy test. Bruner, who had suffered a traumatic childhood that resulted in an eating disorder, was at the point where she thought she wouldn’t be able to conceive.

An ecstatic Bruner and her husband immediately scheduled an appointment with the doctor to confirm the pregnancy. Most couples can attest to the fact that, seeing the heartbeat on that very first sonogram is one of the most memorable moments of their lives. But, when the doctor did a sonogram, he determined that her uterus showed know signs of looking like a pregnant uterus. At the first signs of pregnancy, the uterus grows to accommodate the many changes that the body will undergo. When he saw an unchanged uterus, he sent Bruner to get an ultrasound right away.

Soon after the ultrasound, the radiologist said that Bruner was most likely having a tubal pregnancy and in the process they discovered a large mass in her left ovary. Bruner was told that they would have to perform a procedure fast, or the tube was at risk of rupturing. Bruner’s biggest fear was having to abort her baby. Doctors urged her to stop thinking that there was a baby. “It is not nor will it ever be one,” they said. But, Bruner was set on the fact that a baby was growing inside her.

“Over the next few days I struggled to understand what was happening and why it was happening and I was angry I was being forced to make the choice of terminating a pregnancy or possibly losing my life or my ability to ever conceive again,” said Bruner.

And then a miracle happened. When Bruner went in for another ultrasound day later, the tech said the most magically words she had ever heard…”Look, there’s your baby.” The new scan had shown that her baby was in fact in her uterus, alive and well. The tech admitted that three days prior it appeared that the baby was in her tube, but it was now obviously living in her uterus and the tube bleeding and mass had disappeared.

Even when the baby was still an embryo, Bruner had developed a mother’s intuition. She went with her gut and didn’t give up thinking that she was going to have a healthy baby. And the is exactly what happened months later. Bruner gave birth to a healthy nine pound baby boy.

Bruner is sharing her lesson with women everywhere and she urges them to go with their intuition. “If I can help just one woman choose life for her baby or seek a second opinion by sharing our story then it was all worth it,” she said.
